Bench Time #122: Dave Rarig & Paul Egri - Paper Model Structures
Friday Apr 10, 2020
Friday Apr 10, 2020
Man, did we learn a lot about a whole talking to Dave and Paul about the new world (new to us) of paper model building! The work that these model builders are doing is NOT what you think it would look like when you think of a paper model structure and they have the ability to add a lot of layers and weathering just as we can with our structures.
There are a lot of resources out there for paper models and here are a few of the ones that we talked about on our show this week with Dave & Paul:
- Clevermodels
- Build your own main street from Illinois Historical Society
- Fiddlers Green
- Reading & Northern N Scale https://www.facebook.com/groups/450481855347919/
- Dave’s Photobucket Page
- Model Rail Buildings - Mostly Card & Paper
FREEBIE for our listeners from Paul!

Friday Mar 13, 2020
Friday Mar 13, 2020
This weekend we're all going to hunker down and spend some time inside with our families. There's no need to go out to go shopping, visiting large places or anything like that. Let's all just kick back, grab a couple items to build and get to work at the workbench or layout. Please stay safe and we wish everybody the best during these current times. And SANITIZE THOSE GRUBBY HANDS!
My dad and I talk about skills we wish we understood and wish to learn better, as well as what a couple of other Patrons who chimed in on Jake's topic request.
Have a safe and healthy weekend everybody!

Join Todd and Brett for the first Friday of March 2020 where we talk some shop for our current projects on our workbench and go off on a couple of rabbit trails… Well, a lot of rabbit trails actually. It seems like when it’s just us two we end up turning into little kids and it seems to go off the tracks quite a bit, but that’s what makes this show fun and why we do it!

Bench Time #116: Sue Cooley - Craftsman Model Builder
Friday Feb 28, 2020
Friday Feb 28, 2020
Long time listener and amazing craftsman model builder Sue Cooley joins us this week on the Bench Time Podcast and we talk about her take on the hobby from the female perspective! We loved having her on and Sue is such an awesome person to meet and hang out with, so it was only fitting that we finally got her on the show to talk about her experience in model railroading and what she loves about it!
The amazing this about this hobby, as Sue explained, is how amazingly inclusive it is to everyone. Sue has really become an awesome model builder and has a ton of experience and great work, which she shares online with her model building friends and online craftsman community. We also talk about some of Sue’s favorites in the hobby from detail parts, structure types, and a little bit about her work with clients and her own home layout.
We really enjoyed having Sue on the show this week and we can’t wait to have her on again and see her in the future at more upcoming events and shows!
